A Chinese national, Pingfan Hong joined the United Nations in 1989 and has since worked mostly in the area of policy research, particularly macroeconomic policy analysis and international policy effects. He has contributed for many years to the publication of the United Nations World Economic and Social Survey and World Economic Situation and Prospects.
